Students have 1 year to complete this program. If not completed after the 1 year has elaspsed, a $100 payment would need to be made for another year of access.
2. How many hours a week will I need to devote to completing this course?
Different people learn at different speeds. Where on person may be able to understand and retain information after reading and/or seeing the material once, others may need to read and see the material several times before they can understand the subject matter. On average, a student should be able to complete the course if they were able to dedicate 10 – 15 hours a week.
3. Is the one-week intensive required?
No, it is optional but highly recommended. Those who wish to get the hydrotherapy and massage certificate must successfully complete the intensive.
4. What is the cost of the one-week intensive?
It is $590 and includes first class accommodations, delicious food, and all materials needed for the classes. (To see the dates for the one week extensive courses go to http://healthevangelism.com/courses/health-evangelism/.)
5. Is it possible for me to purchase my own books or use some books I already have?
Most of the materials used for the online course are syllabi that have been created by the staff here at Wildwood. These syllabi will be made available online to all the student who register for the course. All of the other books will be shipped to each student. The total cost for the books will be under $150.
6.When I complete the online program will I be able to apply to take the Advanced Health Evangelism course at Wildwood?
Yes. Successfully completing the standard Health Evangelism training, either online or on campus is the only prerequisite for application into the Advanced Health Evangelism course.
7. Is the online course course accredited?
No. Our accreditation is from heaven and based on more than 60 years of experience in using God’s natural remedies. However, several Seventh-day Adventist colleges and universities have given some college credits for our course.
8. Is most of the study/reading material online? Or is it from text book materials?
Most of the materials used for the online course are syllabi that have been created by the staff here at Wildwood. These syllabi will be made available online to all the student who register for the course.
9. How is the testing conducted? Is there testing for every chapter, every month or how/when is this determined?
Most of the classes have a quiz at the end of each lesson. Some of the classes have a quiz after several classes.
10. Is the online student informed of events that she/he could participate in that Wildwood is conducting?
We are happy to share events that Wildwood is hosting for any student who is interested or who lives close by and requests event information. Wildwood’s website, www.wildwoodhealth.org, also has up-to-date event information.
11. How would I be able to successfully apply what I have learned during the course? (Is certification needed to begin practicing the methods and techniques learned?)
If a person wanted to commit their lives fully to medical missionary work and earn a living from it then they could apply to work at one of the medical missionary institutions in the US or overseas. (See www.outpostcenters.org). You could also become a teacher for LIGHT (The Lay Institute for Global Health Training) see www.lightingtheworld.or LIGHT is an overseas ministry that conducts 1 and 6-month medical missionary training schools around the world. Currently we are working in over 20 countries on 6 continents, and we do need more teachers. Here at Wildwood, we send our 6-month students to a LIGHT school after they graduate to teach the same classes they just took. It is an excellent way to really learn and apply the information and see the power of God working through medical missionary training.
This course also equips a person to use medical missionary skills as a side ministry to their regular job. All of the information the students learn is life-changing to themselves and to their ministry ability, and it equips them to help others in their family, community, church, etc. These skills will also be very useful and valuable in the troublous times ahead where medical care may not be as available as it is now.
12. If I needed to relocate, or travel to another location for a period of time could the course still be continued at the new location?
The beauty of an online course is that a person can take it wherever they are as long as they have a high-speed internet access. The only challenge of moving during the course is the danger of one getting out of their study routine.
13. Is the curriculum listed on the site in the order in which the classes will be taken? Is the first class finished before the next class is started? or are a couple classes running at the same time?
The order of classes listed on the website are not in order. We are also continuing to develop and improve this course so changes for the better would occur periodically. We enroll students for 2 classes at a time (typically a health class and a spiritual class) and highly encourage them to take both classes simultaneously. If they finish one class before the other, then we enroll them in the next class so that they can continue doing 2 classes at a time.
14. Is there a particular time in which the online course is started each year?
Our online course starts at any time—a student simply sends in an application, gets accepted, pays for the course, orders their books and starts as soon as they can. This is a blessing for the students so that no one has to wait.
15. Is each student assigned a specific instructor/mentor during the course? Or is the mentor specific to the class one is taking at that particular time?
We do not assign a specific mentor for each student. If the student needs help at any point they can always email the administrator for assistance.
16. I don’t see anything, title wise, related to agriculture. Is this something covered in the advanced course rather than some generals in the beginning course?
We are working toward providing information for students to be able to learn how to garden.
17. The massage training…does one have to go for certification in their state? Or is the training complete to carry on anywhere?
The massage training we give here is not comprehensive or long enough to give students the hours they need to become a licensed massage therapist. Rather our class gives each student a good foundation and several hours of practice to use massage as another tool in ministry. In order to become a licensed massage therapist, able to support oneself, a student would have to take a massage course in the particular state in which they want to practice.
